These “quick plugs” are for testing underground pool plumbing for leaks during the initial stages of dye testing. Simply put; if the pump has been off, a broken pool pipe will pull dye into the pipe indicating a break behind the wall. Under Ideal conditions it is a very effective way to determine if the plumbing is the problem. In reality, the number of returns and the size of the pipe openings are too great to precisely determine the outcome of this test. Add to it convection currents and a little wind and the idea becomes absurd. These plugs quickly solve the problem of convection currents and simplify a complex system by reducing the number of  jet opening to one small 9mm hole that can be dye tested quite easily and accurately.
They answer the question- is the pipe broken or not?.
The patented design is made of durable vinyl and will last a lifetime of use. Included are six quick plugs with one having the reducer hole. The 6 units are stackable taking up little space in your tool box. The size is good for testing return pipes up to 2″ including dual bottom drains.
My name is Nathan and Ive been a professional leak detector for over 20 years. One of my favorite tools is the “quick plug” that I found so important in finding leaks in pools that I patented the design and then had them manufactured myself.
The design tests return lines for tightness without pressure testing, cutting pipes or even removing the jet nozzles. It finds the smallest leaks and not only works in pool returns but in spa therapy jets, dual bottom drain lines,  skimmer pipes and vacuum lines.  The plugs fit tight but harmlessly blow out if the pool pump is accidently started.
When Im inspecting the pool the first thing  I do is shut down the pump and install my quick plugs and do the dye test- By confirming or eliminating the plumbing quickly I can plan the next move with confidence.
