The adjustable belt snaps on and is easy to release quickly. The belt is easy to adjust to your waist. I like it so much I use several just to carry extra gear, plus it holds headphones, food, etc. You can easily wear one on both sides to carry pin pointers, even a extra hat, bug spray, knee pads, or a smaller jacket.
The overall length top to bottom is 12″ and the width is about 10″. The inside pocket is around 11″ deep. The inside zipper pocket is about 3.5 ” deep and about 8″ wide.
